Welcome friends!
If you joined this journey and have tuned into reading this post, I just want to say thank you! I’m honored to have you all here to join me on this ride where I’m going to go into the details about my decor, our home, and much, much more!
I’m currently writing this post while it’s below zero out. I’m wearing a scarf, and I have my sweater earmuffs band on (if that’s even what it’s called). Yes we have heat in our home, but it is a starter home from the 1960’s! It’s expected to be one of the coldest New Year’s Eves in a long time here in Omaha, so AJ and I are being old farts and staying in. Sushi date night in our cozy home is one of my favorite dates we have. Sushi date night was actually one of our first dates we went on, and surprisingly AJ had never tried sushi before that night. Now he loves it!
We have always loved getting Baker’s sushi and bringing it home to eat on our couch; however, we just got a new couch and there is a no food rule. It’s cream, so you can all probably understand why there is no food allowed. I’ll save the stories and photos of our living room for another day, as we are currently giving the living room a makeover. Today’s post is another table scape that I’m absolutely in love with! It is a black, white, and green fresh look with hints of winter throughout.
Since my Christmas table scape was a lot of color, I wanted to tone down the winter decor and add a little more farmhouse flair to the table. I started the whole design by picking out these adorable black lanterns from Hearth and Hand, and let me tell you they are perfect additions for decor in any room! They are definitely pieces that I will be able to use around the house year round and just change-up what’s inside of them. The best thing about them, they honestly are not that expensive! You can go purchase these at your local Target Store, as the Hearth and Hand collection is sold there (aka, another reason to go into Target and come out with something you didn’t go in for). I finished the lanterns with some white candles and snow pinecones I already had around the house, then purchased some “Christmas” fake snow at Hobby Lobby during their 60% Christmas decor sale. Steal!
I had a visual for this table scape, slightly. There were pieces in my mind but it honestly didn’t all come together until I found this table runner at Kirkland’s. I love the black and white buffalo plaid, and it went perfect with my vision of keeping the bright and light theme. Not only was it perfect for my vision, it was great on the wallet too! I’m all about finding those deals where I can.
The greenery that I have on this table is actually what I used for my Christmas table scape also. Honestly, I will probably use this piece of greenery a lot throughout the year because it flows so easily on the table. You can find this 6′ Frosted Eucalyptus Garland at Hobby Lobby (wait for the discount!). It’s a steal of a deal and you can use it just about anywhere in your home. Right now, I prefer it on our table but who knows what the future will bring!
Last but certainly not least is the table setting. Now currently I just use these plates and napkins as decor features, and don’t actually lay out silverware for my table scape. Mainly because, well who wants to put that stuff away all the time? Not me! And I don’t quite have any “fine china” or silverware that we don’t use everyday. What I love laying out are certainly these beautiful plates and napkins. The white plates are something I will be able to use more often than not (compared to my Christmas plates). As are the black stoneware plates! And oh these black plates. If you haven’t fallen in love with Hearth and Hand yet, I really think you will after checking out their dinnerware. Not only are this black stoneware a beautiful pop to any table, they are actually functional! Yes, they are dishwater and microwave safe and you can find the salad stoneware plate here. Chip and Joanna Gaines really have inspired so many people, and I’m definitely one of their fans!
The final addition to this table setting was, you guessed it, another item from the Hearth and Hand collection. I kind of went crazy with their stuff as it’s been coming into the market, and what can I say, I love it! These napkins were some of the most affordable and beautiful looking napkins I have found in a long time. They are a pretty white napkin with little black X stitch pattern throughout. Super cute, super affordable, and can be used year round. These are still in stock at the Target stores by me, but you don’t want to miss out on these adorable napkins!
You probably won’t be able to tell, but we actually just replaced this tabletop with a new and improved wood top also! AJ’s has gotten some new tools and learned a few new tricks, so he wanted to change out our old top for a new one. He actually built a new frame to attach our old top to, and we’re selling that table. We for once changed up our lumber and went with some awesome wood we bought from a local Lowe’s Hardware Store. This wood is actually more expensive than Home Depot or Menards, but the wood was in extremely good condition and we couldn’t pass it up. AJ worked his butt off to get this one completed before the extreme cold swept in, and thankfully we have a functioning dinner table again.
I hope this post helps give you some new ideas for your to decorate your dinner or dining table! It’s honestly my favorite that I have put together, and I think it’ll be staying around for a couple of months. But don’t kid yourself; once Spring hits I’ll be pulling out and adding my bright Spring greenery into the mix. Please feel free to share your thoughts or questions by leaving your comments! I would love to hear what you think. Don’t forget to subscribe so we can continue to ride this journey together.
With Love,
Kristen
Super cute! I love the black accents for our home, too. Makes it all so modern and ties together with any theme.
