Happy Friday! I’m super excited about today because I took the day off and have time to get some stuff done around the house before we have some friends over this weekend. My morning is more than likely going to be spent sitting at the car shop though. The Jeep has been leaking rain water through the door seals, so that’s been pretty fun. I’m finally taking it in to get fixed and praying it’s an easy one. Who knows with service shops though!
I wanted to do a fun post today that is centered around some of my favorite summer essentials. From beauty to accessories, I love the summer style and how my skin is during this season. My skin is usually just slightly dry, so in the summer it’s usually a good medium between oily and dry. Some of my close friends tell me they love my skin and that it’s so soft, but the thing about it that I had to learn is it doesn’t hold makeup very well. So I tend to usually not wear that much makeup on a daily basis and just use my essentials. Now don’t get me wrong, your girl loves getting a tad fancy from time to time, but I’m just not a thick layer of makeup kind of girl. The light weight stuff is what works with my face and that’s what I like.
The best part about approaching summer in the midwest, is I can finally start to get a tan soon! I got a nice tan from the Bahamas, but it has faded quite a bit since then which was expected. When my skin get’s more tan I wear less and less makeup. However, there are still a few items that I have to wear almost on a daily basis and I’m hear to talk about those today!
The first and probably my most important daily essential: renewed hope in a jar spf 30. I learned a few years ago that putting moisturizer on my face daily was super important and part of the reason my makeup would come off so easily. I tried several different lotions from expensive to cheap, and could not find the perfect fit for my skin. I didn’t need something super thick, nor did my skin need something too thin. I went into Ulta one day and started talking with a sales lady there who helped me make one of the best decisions for my face! Seriously this brand is amazing, and I use a lot of their products and have nothing but good things to say.
I choose to use the moisturizer that has the SPF in it, because well the sales lady convinced me how important it is with the daily rays of the sun. I’m not kidding on this next statement. While in the Bahamas I didn’t use any other sunscreen on my face, and only used this lotion. I barely got burnt on my face if at all. My nose always tend to get burnt on tropical trips and so that got just slightly burnt and then right next to my hairline. Other than that my face was in great shape!
I use this lotion twice a day every day, and it’s pure bliss. It’s one product that I never forget about and am always using. I highly, highly recommend to give it a try, and you can also purchase kits that are smaller sizes to test the product out. That’s actually what I did when I first bought the Philosophy products. I have linked several getting started kits below that I would highly recommend. I have actually bought three of the four and loved each and every product that came in them!
A quick plug about some of the items you see in these kits above. The one-step facial cleanser and the daily exfoliating facial wash are two of my go-to’s for cleansers. They both work great, and are tied for my second favorite product of Philosophy’s line. The facial cleanser get’s all of my makeup off including my eye makeup. The exfoliating wash is so gentle on your skin, and really works wonders on removing the dead skin off your face. I usually just use the cleanser every day, and the exfoliating wash about every other day to every third day depending on how my skin is feeling.
I cannot stress the use of a facial cleanser enough though, so if you don’t have time to completely wash your face, go ahead and use a facial cleansing wipe. Here are two of my favorites I use often:
Alright let’s get into some of my makeup favorites that I use year round. The first and probably the single item I have used the longest is my BareEssentials barePRO Powder Foundation. I think I have used a form of their foundation since I was in high school and have not found anything that I like more, powder wise.
I also pair it with the primer, and the pair work great together. I’ll save my obsession with this brand for another day, but it’s the best for travel and longevity!
My favorite everyday eye makeup go to’s are something I really do use each day. I honestly love doing my eye make up way more extravagant than I do it every day, but I hate having so much eye make up on all day long. So I tend to only use my mascara and brow products. I would love to learn more about doing eyebrows better, so all my makeup girls let me in on your ways!
I had to add in some sunglasses that I wear, and others that I actually want to go buy. I have always, and I mean always, been a fan of aviators. I haven’t bought a new pair recently because AJ always convinces me not to. I’m thinking I might be needing to get myself a cheaper pair from Target, but I would absolutely love the RayBan pair! I have too many sunglasses because I always end up either breaking them or leaving them somewhere in the house. So I tend to keep a few pairs in my Jeep, and I always travel with several pairs too when I go on vacation.
To top all of this off, I have to talk about my obsession with gorgeous necklaces. I have a custom built jewelry holder that AJ made me and it is loaded with necklaces. I typically don’t wear necklaces in the winter because I’m usually wearing a scarf, but in the summer I love pairing my outfits with a chunky necklace or even layering with long necklaces.
The necklace shown below is probably my favorite necklace currently. I wore it in the Bahamas and it’s a perfect addition to any outfit. The same goes for my black earrings I bought. I don’t wear earrings as much anymore, but when I do they have to be super cute like this black pair!
I’ll continue to share some of my favorite products that I use, and some new summer finds that come along! I really hope you all have enjoyed seeing more of the products I use, and I would be happy to answer any questions or offer more of my opinions on them. I always will stand by the products I share with you all, and I have honestly shared my true opinions today. Please feel free to email me or comment on this post with questions or comments! Enjoy your Friday friends!
