Hi friends! I promised this post about two weeks ago and I finally had some time to get around to it. I had such busy weekends and we were also helping install my brother’s trim at his house until about 9:30 PM for several nights. Once we got that done, we decided to throw a party at our house for Cinco de Mayo and had to get all of our landscaping done in one weekend! We ended up buying plants from Costco and Home Depot, and got everything planted, and it’s just so gorgeous! I’ll be putting that up on the blog soon and let you all know how the plants are doing.
Today I wanted to put up a quick post surrounding this simply DIY on how to make decor beads. Let me tell you folks, this really is so simple and so cheap to do on your own! I will go ahead and list out the steps I took and link the materials I used below.
To start out, you will need the following:
- A pair of scissors
- Jute string
- Wooden beads
The first thing you will do is take the jute string and start wrapping it around your palm. This part is the tassel, so I recommend wrapping it around your palm about 25-30 times if you want it to be more full. Before you cut the string, make sure the piece you started with and the piece you are ending with are both going the same direction.
Once you have this to the size you want it, you will then take another piece of jute string and wrap it around the top (about 1/4 the way down) of your tassel. I would say get a good amount of jute string for this, or wrap around the tassel first and then cut when it’s thick enough for you. Just make sure if you do this, you leave enough string when you start so you can tie it in a knot.
Now take your scissors and cut the end of the bigger piece of the tassel.
Next get a piece a jute string about the size that you want your decor beads to be, or slightly longer to be safe. Tie a knot around the top of the tassel like below.
Once you have this, start adding on your beads. You will see in my photo that there is a short piece of the string still there. That’s completely fine, just put the bead over that as well. Continue adding beads after this point until you get close to the end. Jute string can start to fray, so just take your time, and use a piece of tape at the end if needed.
Once you get the amount of beads that you want to use for the length of string you chose, tie a knot at the end. You can do several things at this point: make another tassel, add some florals, add a tag, etc. If you do the tassel, you will add it to the end the same way you started. And then that’s it! Super simple and easy DIY that is SO CHEAP!
I love using decor beads throughout our house, and I tend to move the ones I have around. They are a perfect accent to an end table, sofa table, or really just anywhere you want to add a sweet little touch! I hope you guys have enjoyed this simple DIY, and I would love to see how your decor beads turn out! If you have any questions at all or comments to make, please leave a comment or send me an email! Enjoy your Friday!!
