Another budget topic, because we all love revamping things on a budget! Today I’m joining my friend Ana over at Fiddle Leaf Interiors to bring ya’ll some budget Valentine’s decor from her page, and a budget bathroom organization post here! During the winter time I know we all can feel like we have no idea what to do with our decor, or let alone all the things in our home. So we are here to help!
Between decorating our home, getting our home ready to sell, and just every day life, I’ve been needing some severe organization in my life. I of course didn’t want to spend a crazy amount on this since I will be moving soon and everything will change, but I want this to look nice for when we do sell. So today’s project was all about organizing our little master vanity.
First off…we’ve had this vanity for about a year and a half, and I have not organized this cabinet since we put it in. So the junk just kept piling up and was getting ridiculous. Between the cleaning products and the hair products, something needed to be done.
Just a mess right? So a few things about this vanity real quick. AJ custom built everything on it, so we have 5 drawers and they are all different sizes to accommodate every day products. I have the taller drawers off to the right because I can put my hair products in it, which was a smart idea on AJ’s part.
Okay so the reason why this bathroom re-organization is so cheap is because I used some items I already had, and got some cheap wicker baskets from Home Goods to complete the look. Home Goods and just about every other home decor store has loads of baskets during this time of year, so I highly recommend jumping on some of these now while they last! The two I got were $6 a piece. I had this metal circle basket and utilized this as well. I’m pretty sure it was another $5 find from Home Goods.
Before I get into those three baskets, let’s talk about what I tried first. I had this large basket from our old night stands that we had, which I no longer use the baskets with in our spare room. Since this basket was free to use, I tried this one first as it would hide the items a lot better.
Unfortunately this basket was too big for the piping that is underneath the counter space.
While yes this looks nice, I had a bunch of unusable space behind the basket. When you have a smaller vanity, wasted space isn’t an option. So this is where the three smaller baskets came into place.
I was strategic on what is in each of these baskets as well. Since I didn’t want to spend money on rollers, I thought it would be good to have an “important” basket that I use weekly, and a “not as important” basket that gets used every so often. This way I can grab the whole basket and bring out my weekly cleaning products so I don’t have to keep bending over to find what I need. Organization can get pricey, and sometimes just doing even more organizing can help you save some dollars.
The smaller front basket contains all of my smaller spray bottles which are easy to grab and pull out. Off the the left is where we keep our toilet paper because there is honestly no where else to pull it in this space. Since we have the buttons on top of our toilet, I can’t put them there. And since we decided to not put shelving in their bathroom (just couldn’t get ourselves to cover up this beautiful shiplap), this is the spot for it.
As you can see, the baskets have handles that are easy to grab, and the thicker wicker can handle the weight of the cleaning products. These baskets are not only great for this little space, but they will be something that I will be able to easily repurpose in the new home!
So, why don’t you get yourself a couple baskets on a budget to get that organization on this February!
