You might be asking, why is there a part 1 to a nursery reveal? Well…to put it simple…Covid. Months and months ago, I ordered a dresser for baby girl’s room. Well that never came and if I hadn’t canceled my order I would still be waiting for it unfortunately. Luckily though, I did find a new dresser; however that will be a part of “Part 2” on the nursery reveal. Additionally, with us moving into our home literally one week before she arrived, we didn’t have much time to do an accent wall either. So that is coming! Maybe in a part 3? Haha we will see.
So let’s talk about Part 1! I did order her dresser super far in advance because it kept going out of stock. It’s every bit of perfect antique gold that her room needed. It took me awhile to find a chair that I wanted and was in stock, but I had finally found that and it arrived the day we moved in. Those were the two big items in her room, and the rest were accent items, which is what I really want to dive into.
When scrolling through on Pinterest for nursery ideas, it can get overwhelming. You will see links to baby places on where to buy stuff, and sometimes it can be hard to find things that aren’t so, cartoonish. Everyone has their own ideas for what their child’s nursery will look like, and I have this image in my head that I just have not seen online. The items were hard to find, but to the rescue again were my friends over at Kirkland’s. You might never think to look at Kirkland’s for a nursery, but they have so many beautiful options to choose from. So how do you incorporate items from a decor focused store into a nursery? You get creative 🙂
For my baby shower I asked everyone to bring a book for baby girl instead of a card, and I needed a place in her nursery to store all of her books. With all sorts of shapes and sizes, I needed something that was bigger and could hold the weight of all the books. Queue the beautiful baskets that are from Kirkland’s (heart eyes!).
These baskets come in a set of four and they are perfect on so many levels. I love the natural tones and warmth they bring to her room, and they are a great wicker that doesn’t poke anyone or shed. Baskets are a great way to also hide things that might not match your nursery theme when displayed, but this is a convenient way to have them right by the rocking chair. You can get your very own set here!
The second item I needed was somewhere to put my feet up with the rocking chair. This chair didn’t have anything matching for a foot rest, which was totally okay because I’ve always pictured a jute pouf here. Poufs are a great addition to a nursery to put your feet up because once you don’t need it for the nursery, it can be used as a multi-purpose item. You could either move it into your master bedroom or living room as an accent, or when you child is old enough they could use it as a seat (definitely would need to be out of their strapped in high chair for safety). Kirkland’s actually had several other poufs that are great options as well!
Again, this pouf is so beautiful and could be used in more places than the nursery. When Brynnley and I go into her nursery (she still sleeps in her bassinet in our room), we rock in this chair and the pouf is just what we need to comfortably rock away. Honestly I don’t think I could just do a rocking chair without a small chase or pouf. It really does help me stay comfortable while rocking.
I went onto Kirkland’s website and found some additional items that I thought about getting to accent the nursery, and I’m listing them below! It’s hard work putting a nursery together in the middle of a pandemic with things being out of stock, but if you find yourself in the same place, you’re not alone!
I’m hoping to add some wallpaper behind the rocking chair and crib to really help this nursery pop, but it’s been a slow road on getting this room finished. Let’s just say, a pandemic, building a home, and having a baby all in one year was quite the crazy combination. However, it’s taught me so much and has made me so grateful.
So here’s to 2021 and hoping that I can finish Brynnley’s room before she’s walking!
