Hey y’all! From work to home building plans…it’s been hard to try and find time to just put my thoughts into the blog. Honestly home building planning has been fun, stressful, scary, everything! Literally..ALL. THE. FEELS. In the meantime, it’s been hard to find time to cook. And what I mean by cook is the preparation part, aka the most time consuming part.
That is where our Traeger has helped drastically! Grilling is honestly so much easier than cooking something in the oven or on the stovetop. This Traeger has the bluetooth setting, so it’s literally a set it and forget it, until the timer tells you the meat is at its temp! Grilling used to be hard because I could never tell when I should flip the meat or when to pull it off the grill. My dad taught me quite a bit when it came to grilling, but I still was never confident that my meat was cooked through. My dad is an AMAZING griller/smoker of just about any meat. So much better than any restaurant (he would be proud…and he will eventually read this lol). But daddy’s little girl learned from the best.
Learning to cook on the Traeger was so much different than your traditional grill because it’s a smoker. So the typically “charred” look of meat doesn’t happen…unless you know the secret! I am not going to lie to your guys, AJ and I struggled the first couple weeks trying to cook meat on this grill.
After grilling several different kinds of meats and listening to a few friends, we got it down! Basically, we grilled the meats at the certain temps for that meat that were recommended, but added a little more time. Similar to oven style cooking versus cooking on your traditional grill. Then for the last about 5 minutes or so we cranked up the temp to help get some of the charred texture. Then you have some of the most juicy chicken and tasty beef!
Now that it is the Fall season, AJ and I have been wanting to grill so much more and for company! Grilling when company is over makes things 10 times easier and clean up goes so fast. Having the Traeger is going to be a perfect addition to this football season, and I so wish we had a tailgating spot to take this baby to during Husker football games! For now, we will have to crank the speakers, watch the game from home and get that grill fired up out back. We have the perfect little pad to put the grill (when our trashcans aren’t there and behind the garage!) on to where it won’t harm any further siding. Long story short….college boys 🙂 Yes one of AJ’s roommates grilled way too close to the siding back in the day. Thank God we are getting that fixed soon.
Our Traeger is definitely going to see many years of family parties, football parties and just our weekly dinners. Now, Traeger has grills being sold at multiple stores by now, but I’m so happy we were able to specifically partner with Ace Hardware on this. Ace Hardware has always made us feel like our business is appreciated. When you go into an Ace Hardware you know you are going to find a friendly face who just wants to help you. If you have had a chance to pick up a grill for this football season, I definitely would say to head out to your local Ace Hardware if you are in the Midwest area!
