Autumn has been my favorite season ever since I got out of high school. Summer used to be my favorite because it meant summer break, but ever since then I crave the crisp Fall breeze, football games, and the cozy blankets to curl up with. As the quote says, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” The colors changing just get me every time. I tell AJ at our next home we are planting trees that turn red in the front of our yard [insert heart eyes] cause…well give me all the reds!
For now we are enjoying our front porch with the beautiful updates we’ve made since the hail storm hit back in May! Honestly, you guys will not believe the transformation. Just…well take a look at where we started with this house when AJ bought it 6 years ago:
Basically we didn’t even have a front porch. The metal railings you see when straight into our siding and I just couldn’t believe that someone would do that. Once we removed those we had holes for the past 4 years since AJ built the front porch. Now with the new siding we thankfully got rid of those. We’ve also updated the driveway and that was the first big game changer of this house.
From the hail storm that I mentioned, we have updated the front siding, shutters, gutters, lights, window wraps (including the wood underneath), storm door, and last but not least the roof. So, let this picture below speak a thousand words:
Y’all I CANNOT believe this! Like truly the work that AJ has put into this home is just insane. When you look at where we started it has really made me proud to call that man my husband. He built this front porch and we are actually now fixing that up on another project with Ace to stain it. It is going to bring so much life to this space!
Now onto my expertise…the decorating.
Ace has helped me spice up this space and make it somewhere that I can enjoy a hot cup of coffee on these crisp Fall mornings. These Linon Brown chairs are going to carry on with us for years, and I can already imagine rocking in them with little kiddos of ours! For now, I will rock Abu lol. But for real, when I first got these chairs I really debated on not getting wood tone chairs because I didn’t want them to blend in with the porch. Now, I’m so happy I did get them. They bring such warmth into the front of our home, and they are just too comfy!
From the rocking chairs, to the beautiful white side table (currently not on the website, but I’m sure will be back in stock during Spring!), this space has made me so happy. I’m even happier now that I was able to decorate the front porch with all my real pumpkins and hay! Seriously, pumpkins and hay are some of the best decor accents there are.
With having a smaller starter home like this, I feel like most of us are timid to go big with the seasonal decor, but I went for it! I am looking at the same Pinterest photos we all are of these big, beautiful front porches that are covered, and we all can have that too! Just on a smaller scale. I dream of the day when I can finally sit on one of those porches, but for now I’m staying so proud of this beautiful, small space. As you can see from above, it really has come so far and is a place that we can enjoy now.
And these pumpkins here cost me a total of $70. And this isn’t EVEN ALL OF THEM! I got them all from a local farm who has a stand near our house, and it was definitely such a great deal!
Ace certainly has quite the collection of patio furniture for every home, and they honestly surprise me every time I got into a store with what they have in all departments. Each time we go into Ace, we are helped right away and with a friendly smile. It makes it easy to shop at a place like that, and you just get that “small market shop” feel every time (or at least we do!). If y’all have the pleasure of getting to have a local Ace, I highly suggest to try them out for your project needs! They are eager to help, friendly, and have a great selection of all items.
Thank you all for tuning into today’s post about this cozy space and to see this transformation. I hope y’all have decorated your homes for Fall or Thanksgiving, and I would love to see what you did with your front porches!! Comment below or join in on the conversation on my Instagram page!
